Vaccines for Adolescents Age 11-12

  • By the time children reach 11 to 12 years of age immunity to tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis has started to wane. 

  • Also, adolescents may soon be exposed to other diseases, such as meningitis and human papillomavirus vaccine.
  1. Tdap  A booster dose for protection against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough) is due at 11-12 years of age.

  2. MCV (Meningococcal conjugate vaccine)

  3. HPV vaccine (Human papillomavirus vaccine 959k.pdf) for girls only to protect against the virus that causes 70% of cervical cancer in women and for boys to prevent genital warts
